The GenVac MP2 Vacuum Impregnator is designed for precision sample impregnation of porous materials. It is used on rocks and minerals, ceramics, electronic circuit boards and other composite materials. The system includes a separate vacuum pump, it is controlled from a plain front panel, and it comes with a disposable sample cup holder.
A large 6.3″ (16 cm) diameter transparent lid gives a clear view of the samples while they are being impregnated, and the lid comes off completely to expose the bed of the vacuum chamber for positioning and handling. The consumable inlet tube is built into the lid, so the mounting cups are filled without opening the chamber, and with the samples in sight the cups are filled to the level they need without losing impregnation material. The whole cycle runs from a few controls on the front of the unit.

Vacuum impregnation is used when a specimen is porous or fragile and cold mounting resin has to be drawn into the cavities before grinding starts. Check the chamber size, the vacuum level and the supply voltage against your samples before ordering. Imperial values come first, with the metric equivalent in brackets.

Parts and all consumables are in stock and can be acquired directly from NextGen Material Testing by request. We do not use proprietary parts, so additional parts can be sourced from local suppliers as needed many years down the road.
The MP series is a plug-n-play machine that needs no formal training or installation, and the supplied instructional videos cover the set up and the running of the machine.
Tell us the material you need to impregnate and the mount size you work to, and we will confirm the cups and the resin to order with your GenVac MP.
Need Additional Quality Control Equipment to Build Your Laboratory?
Mounting is only one part of a complete quality control laboratory. NextGen can help you equip your entire lab with impact testers, notching and broaching systems, cooling chambers, tensile testers, hardness testers, specimen preparation equipment, and other supporting solutions, all coordinated as one complete project.
Our two primary models, the MP2 and LS2 series vacuum impregnation systems have a main chamber diameter of 18.6cm (7.3 inch) and 24.45cm (9.63 inch) respectively.
With all of our products, we offer a lifetime support guarantee which ensures we are here for you to answer any and all questions that you may have for the lifetime of your metallographic cold mounting press.
Although the tubes are considered consumables, they are certainly reusable! The reason for this is that we include excellent quality high flow epoxy resin (curing at room temperature in about 24hrs) which helps prolong the lifespan of the tubes. Using a faster curing epoxy with a cold mounting press would make the resin solidify faster and thereby block the tube faster.
Included with your GenVac - vacuum impregnator system is our universal high flow epoxy resin with no heat release during curing time. The resin cures at room temperature in about 24 hours. It is suitable for most non thermostable specimens such as IC and plastics.

Absolutely! The standard configuration of all our metallography equipment - including the best MP2 metallographic vacuum impregnator - includes all required items to get started with your metallography sample preparations.
The cold mounting metallography press is designed to remove all trapped air from the mounting material and eliminates all gaps between the specimen and the resin. It is absolutely key when preparing samples of a porous nature. Mineralogical samples frequently have porosities, cavities and cracks that require epoxy mounting under a vacuum. The MP2 is an easy to use epoxy mounting vacuum impregnation system with an easy to use interface for all laboratory technicians.
