The GenGrind N Series metallographic grinders and polishers come in 8″, 10″ or 12″ diameter, with single or dual wheels. A 7″ touch screen with a plain menu structure runs the machine.
Manual grinding and polishing is still the common route in laboratories that prepare a handful of samples a day: the operator holds the sample against the plate, so the pressure and the dwell time stay under direct control and a single machine covers coarse grinding through to final polishing. Plate size sets how many samples fit at once, while the dual wheel build lets grinding and polishing sit on separate plates so papers and cloths are not swapped between steps. More info is available in our MEGA blog.

Grinding and polishing are the steps of ASTM E3 preparation that remove the layer damaged by sectioning and leave a surface flat enough to etch and examine. Check the plate size, the sample holder and the supply voltage against your workload before ordering. Imperial values come first, with the metric equivalent in brackets.
