Description

The BrinGen Scope is an optically advanced CCD Brinell measuring scope for manual or digital Brinell testers, and it turns the indentation reading into an automatic scanning step. It works with a computer or a laptop, and the result appears in real time.

Brinell hardness is calculated from the diameter of the indentation, which is why the reading is the weakest link in the method: two operators measuring the same impression through an eyepiece rarely land on the same number, and ASTM E10 asks for the mean of two readings taken at right angles. A camera and a measuring routine take that judgement out of the result. Read more in our MEGA BLOG.

BrinGen Scope Features

Everything the scope adds sits between the indentation and the recorded number:

One-button measurement
The indentation is measured automatically at a single push of a button, and manual measurement is still available when an operator wants it.
Repeatable readings
The measurement no longer depends on who is at the eyepiece, which is what removes operator scatter from a Brinell result.
Real-time display
Measurements, the hardness value, the tolerance and the OK / NG verdict appear as the reading is taken.
Scale conversion
The ASTM E140 conversion table is built in, so a Brinell value can be converted to the approximate value in another method, and a custom table can be defined.
Result handling
Result columns are added or removed, statistics update live, and the distribution can be viewed as a histogram.
Test setup
HBS or HBW, ball diameter, test force and distance unit (nm, µm, mm) are all selected or edited, in several interface languages.
Reports
Several report types, including inspection result documents, and a user-defined report layout.
Calibration
Calibrate either by typing the hardness value of a standard block or by typing the known indentation diameter.

The software screens below are what the operator actually works with: the live reading, the result table with its statistics, and the calibration dialogs.

Live result, conversion table and the OK / NG verdict.

Every measurement lands in a table that keeps its own statistics, and each indentation is stored with the report it belongs to.

Calibration is two dialogs, and either route can be used against a standard block.

What Ships With the BrinGen Scope

The scope arrives as a complete reading station:

  • Camera and LED lights mounted in a stainless and aluminum housing
  • A calibration film
  • Software with a protection key
  • A CD holding the user's guide as video

Tell us which Brinell tester you run and the ball and force you use most, and we will confirm that the BrinGen Scope mounts to it and reads the indentations you take.
