Scope

Measurement of tensile properties of geotextiles using a wide-width specimen.

Applicable to woven fabrics, nonwoven fabrics, layered fabrics, knit fabrics and felts used in geotextile applications.

The distinguishing feature is that the specimen width is greater than its length, which minimizes the necking-down effect and gives a closer relationship to expected field behaviour.

Results provide design parameters for reinforcement applications such as reinforced roadways, embankments over soft subgrades, retaining walls and slopes.
