Using the alignment device is a significant step toward accreditation but it’s not the only requirement. NADCAP accreditation involves meeting numerous process controls and quality requirements in addition to alignment (e.g., equipment calibration, procedures, training, etc.). What the device guarantees is that you have the capability to meet the specific alignment portions of the NADCAP audit. During a NADCAP audit, you must demonstrate compliance with alignment per ASTM E1012 (or equivalent), and with this fixture, you can do exactly that – show data or certificates that your frame’s misalignment is ≤5%. This satisfies a critical checklist item for NADCAP. However, you will still need to ensure all other aspects of your testing program meet NADCAP standards. Think of the alignment device as removing one major hurdle (and a common cause of failure in audits). With alignment under control, you can focus on addressing the other areas of NADCAP. Many labs find that once they add this device and follow our guidance on using it, the alignment portion of their NADCAP audit goes smoothly, bringing them much closer to full accreditation.
